Rubik's cubes are fun but can be very challenging to solve.

STEP 1

GOAL - FORM A DAISY

To solve a Rubik's cube, you first rearrange the colours to form a "Daisy". A Daisy is a pattern that has white edge pieces and a yellow centrepiece, the corner pieces don't matter (yet).

STEP 2

GOAL - FORM THE WHITE CROSS

You get the centrepiece and find the edge piece that is facing you with the same colour and do Front, Front. Search Rubiks® Cube Notation to find out the moves. If they are not the same colour, you turn the top face facing you and then do Front, Front.

STEP 3

GOAL - FINISH THE WHITE FACE AND DO THE FIRST LAYER

You get a corner piece and the centrepiece of that colour and then if that corner piece is on the right you do this (make sure you have the notations tab open and this one) - R U R'. If the corner piece is on the left then you do L' U' L. If it is on the top (turn it so it is facing you and on the bottom right) then you do R U R' R U R'. Then follow the step on the top to finish the step.

STEP 4

GOAL - FINISH THE SECOND LAYER

To solve the 4th step, you need to find an edge piece on the top layer facing you with 2 different colours that aren't yellow. Match it with the same colour facing you and the centrepiece. Turn the top layer with the face facing you and the colour on the top face. Turn it the opposite way that the centrepiece that is on the top layer and the centrepiece on the left or right. (Simple Terms - E.g Red is on the top and the red centrepiece is on the left. It needs to be turned right). If you turned it right (➡) Do this algorithm. The algorithm - L' U' L U F U F'. If you turned it left (⬅) The do this algorithm - R U R' U' F' U' F. READ THAT CAREFULLY AND SLOWLY.

STEP 5

GOAL - MAKE A YELLOW CROSS

There are a couple of different algorithms you need to know. If you get a person sitting down (yellow centrepiece and a yellow edge piece on the left and above) then do this algorithm - F U R U' R' F'. If you get a line case (Yellow centrepiece and two edges on the side of the centrepiece). You do F R U R' U' F'. FUN FACT - The algorithm R U R' U' is actually called sexy move. If you get only a centrepiece you do F R U R' U f R U R' U'. Search up Rubiks Cube Notation Wide moves and go onto the first link.

STEP 6

GOAL - SOLVE THE YELLOW LAYER

CASE 1 =  It has that pattern on the front and back. You do F R U R' U' R U R' U' R U R' U' F'

CASE 2 =  This is the case. You do U' R U2 R' U' R U' R' R2 R' U2 R U R' U R

CASE 3 =  You do R' U2 R U R' U R U' R' U2 R U R' U R

CASE 4 =  You do U' R U2 R' U' R U' R' R' U2 R U R' U R.

CASE 5 =  You do U' R U2 R' U' R U' R U R' U2 R U R' U R.

CASE 6 =  You do R' U2 R U R' U R.

CASE 7 =  You do U' R U2 R' U' R U' R'

STEP 7 - THE SECOND LAST STEP

GOAL - TO HAVE TWO OF THE SAME COLOURED CORNERS ON EACH FACE APART FROM 1 OR NOT

You need to get two of the same coloured corners if you are lucky like this or if you have either Blue, orange, red or green solved =   OR   If you are unlucky you don't have anything like this. You do this algorithm if you are unlucky with no corners or orange, blue, green or red solved. The algorithm = R B' R F2 R' R F2 R2. You then face it with either one of those patterns (whichever one you have) and so the algorithm.

STEP 8 - THE LAST STEP!

GOAL - FINISH THE CUBE!

Where do the unsolved edges have to go?

If they go this way (➡) You do this algorithm - R U' R U R U R U' R' U' R2.

If they go left (⬅) you are to do R2 U R U R' U' R' U' R' U R'.

If they go opposite - Blue goes to green and Green goes to Blue you do M2 U' M2 U2 M2 U' M2. If they are adjacent then you do U R U' R U R U R U' R' U' R2 U R U' R U R U R U' R' U' R2.

YOU FINISHED A 3x3 CUBE!
